Portimão / Portugal

Portimão is one of the oldest towns on the coast of Algarve. In the late 19th century the town was known as a major fishing center. Here were built several canning factories, which provided the majority of revenue to the town’s treasury. Today Portimão is a famous and popular holiday resort with calm sea and clear water.

The town offers several historical attractions and a variety of leisure activities. The district Alvor is worth a visit for its church, built in the 16th century. One of the most prestigious areas is called Carvoeiro.

If you want to enjoy nightlife and shopping the districts of Praia de Vau and Praia da Rocha are the places to go.
